Jason Downs at Shadowland
Jason Downs has something great going on! The last of a three night run of his new play/revue WHY AM I NOT FAMOUS is happening tonight at the gem of a jewel-box theatre SHADOWLAND in Ellenville . It's a delightful evening, with GREAT musical numbers and charming performers asking very brave questions about fame. It's a coming-of-age, memoir, musical review. When the evening ends, we're asking ourselves the same question - why isn't Jason famous, and damn, he ought to be.
Racing Daylight company alums Melissa Leo, David Smilow (confederate soldier who kills Harry), Sophia Raab Downs (producer), Paul Quinn (exec prod) and I were in the capacity audience for last night's standing ovation. Sophia took the stage to sing an encore number with her husband, a perfect button to an exciting new show.
Between you and me, I think you'll get more opportunities to see this one in NYC! If you have the chance, see it tonight.
